We had a pipe burst in the basement over the Christmas cold snap causing a minor flood that pretty much destroyed the bottom half of all the walls, the floors and the ceilings where the water came through. Mitigation company pretty much gutted the basement down to the studs and foundation. (before pics attached) In comes Scherr for the rebuild! They were easy to deal with all the way from the estimate walkthrough to completion. They didn't charge an arm and a leg, yet went above and beyond. Jed, Matteo, the contractors were all pleasant to deal with. Jed and Matteo kept me abreast of all the developments, delays, problems they ran into...etc. The craftsmanship is just insane. Final result is just immaculate. I've attached after photos to the best of my abilities but they just don't do enough justice to their work. I definitely endorse and recommend them 100%!

I highly recommend Scherr Contracting for a home renovation. We used Scherr for a kitchen remodel. Zach and Gavin were always responsive and easy to work with. They had ideas during the design process that we had not considered which turned out really well. The crew did excellent work. The project came in on budget and on time. We would not hesitate to use Scherr Contracting again.

Couldn’t ask for a better experience with Scherr. Reliable, Responsive, Respectful and Neat. Scherr worked around our busy life with 4 kids and a dog. Moreover, we live in an old house and ran into some snags with structure, which was handled collaboratively. Scherr was exceptionally helpful thinking through the design and very responsive with details. They were reliable, delivering what was promised, and managed the unexpected every step of the way. We love our new space and are so happy with the finished product.

Can't say enough great things about my experience with Scherr. From the first point of contact till the end of the job, Sean and the project team were amazing. Communication was top notch, quality of work was unmatched, and it was very clear that they are focused on customer satisfaction. I will be using Scherr for all my home projects, highly recommend.

I hired Scherr to finish my unfinished basement and I could not ask for a better company to work with!! I am very impressed with the quality of work produced by all their employees along with dedicated customer service and support throughout the process! I will be calling them again in the spring for additional renovations to my 1920 cedar shake cottage. You cannot go wrong with Scherr Handyman Services!!!

Friends of ours recommended Scherr Contracting to us. Scherr Contracting did a complete gut of our old 70's kitchen and putting new flooring down on our entire main floor. They stayed within budget, within the estimated time frame, and always communicated with me through out the entire process. Their crew was always friendly, on time, and do GREAT work. Scherr made everything smooth even with us having a 6 month old baby! Highly recommend. Great job Zach and Gavin!

We recently finished a full kitchen and first-floor remodel with Scherr Contracting, and the whole experience was fantastic. They had been highly recommended to us by an interior decorator (Homewood Interiors), and they also had completed a project for our good friends which turned out stunning. We were so happy we chose them! Our project manager Craig was great, he consistently responded immediately via text, phone, or email. Harry Alascio (kitchen designer) and Gavin (owner) were all great to work with. From the first walkthrough to the final cleanup, the process was very smooth and well-managed. The Buildertrend online system also made it easy to follow the schedule. A few things stood out: - The crew was punctual and respectful, stopping work at 4pm each day so we could still have some family downtime. - They cleaned up well and even moved our old refrigerator so we could live comfortably during the remodel. - When surprises came up — like a hidden return vents in the walls or complications rerouting the venting fan — they handled them well, with smart solutions. - We made several changes midstream, and they had no problem adjusting and did a great job. Scherr was a professional, dependable team that delivered what they promised. We were blown away by how perfectly the finished space matched the design renderings. We’re SO HAPPY with the finished space and would highly recommend Scherr Contracting to anyone considering a remodel.

Gavin, Zach and their team were phenomenal and I couldn't recommend them more. We used Scherr Contracting to remodel our kitchen and it was a great experience. They approached the job in a manner that made us feel that our opinions and ideas were not only valued, but heard and directly implemented into the design and finishing of the project. Gavin and Zach were very professional, but also incredibly personable like we had known them for years. Their carpenters and subcontractors were very friendly and highly skilled. This will not be the last time we will work with them and I highly recommend that you contact them for your next home project!

We contracted with Scherr in Feb 2026 to do tilework associated with our bathroom remodel. Garrett Barker was our sales rep. He was very pleasant to deal with, he listened to our needs, he offered good advice and alternatives that we hadn’t considered, and he followed up promptly. What a difference from another company’s sales rep who didn’t listen to our needs, and who was interested only in pushing a sale that day. Scherr’s pricing was good, too. John was the tech who did the actual work, and he did a fantastic job that saved us some additional money. We will definitely do business with Scherr on other projects thanks to Garrett and John’s work quality and the trust they earned.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Scherr Contracting. From start to finish, the process was absolutely seamless. Their team provided an accurate estimate of timelines and stuck to the schedule, which is rare and deeply appreciated. Communication was top-notch throughout the entire project, with consistent updates and a helpful summary at the close of each workday outlining what had been completed and what was coming next. The crew was always prompt, courteous, and respectful of our home, leaving the job site clean at the end of each day. Scherr Contracting even went the extra mile by providing a maid service at the end of the drywall phase to ensure everything was spotless before the finishing work began. We especially appreciated their partnership during the planning phase. They truly listened to our vision and worked with us to make it a reality—even sourcing the exact cabinets we wanted from outside their own showroom and coordinating with another kitchen design center to make it happen. Along the way, they made smart, thoughtful suggestions to enhance the design and improve the functionality of our kitchen. Their use of quality materials and skilled workmanship was evident at every step, and when an unexpected issue (a cracked beam) was uncovered, our project manager handled it with professionalism and care, ensuring it was resolved properly and safely. The entire team—from the owner and director of sales to our project manager—was a pleasure to work with. Billing benchmarks were clearly communicated upfront, and there were no surprises along the way. We give Scherr Contracting our highest recommendation and will, without a doubt, turn to them for any future projects.
